On the auspicious morning of 26th January 2021, Sahradaya College of Advanced Studies celebrated the 72nd republic day in the college premises with great pride and patriotism. The day was celebrated with roughly 150 people following covid-19 precautions. The day began with the prayer song sung by the college students, followed by the welcome speech by the NSS coordinator Mr. Akhil Anto. Fr. Sebin Edattukaran addressed the assembly and urged them to do their best and feel proud to be an Indian. Father first began with the history of the Indian constitution and its achievements and how prosperous it has grown over the years and asked us to think about how to be productive for the country rather than what the country can offer us. Then fr. Sebin Edattukaran proceeds to thank everyone who works hard for the country’s economic freedom and concludes by asking the gathering to work together so we can make the country grow even more prosperous. The finance officer, Fr. Shaju Chirayath conducted the flag upliftment ceremony which was followed by a patriotic song sung by the college choir. The students saluted the National flag and pledged to uphold the honor and integrity of the nation. Fr. Shaju Chirayath expressed his respect for the national flag and stated the values -justice, liberty, equality, and fraternity which outlined the preamble of our constitution. Father Also spoke on the values that guided our freedom struggles. There was a marching parade conducted by the students in the sports category in respect for the day which was organized by the NSS students. The day was concluded by a vote of thanks addressing the attendees i.e., the students and the dignitaries by Ms. Megha Jayan O.K. After the conclusion of the event, the NSS students conducted a cleaning campaign in the areas near the college campus and inward 16 Kodassery Panjayat. The NSS volunteers planted saplings on the college campus to start a vegetable farm.
