Internal Complaints Committee

Internal Complaints Committee is a statutory body.  In pursuance of UGC(Prevention, prohibition and redressal of sexual harassment of women employees and students at higher education institutions) regulations 2015, read with Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, prohibition and redressal) Act, 2013 and in partial modification of Office Order No. 449, dated on 05.08.2016, Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) is reconstituted as under to deal with the complaints relating to Sexual harassment at workplace.

Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies has an amazingly women friendly campus that gives high respect to women employees and female students. SCAS can proudly hold its name high as the management pays keen attention to the safety of Women on the campus. For further assurance for women safety, Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies also constituted a wing of Internal Complaints Committee as per UGC regulations, on 19.02.2021.

Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara, conducts various programmes like webinars and workshops etc.

INTERNAL COMPLAINTS COMMITTEE (ICC) ANNUAL REPORT

2024-2025

Objectives:

  • The ICC has been working towards the following objectives:
  • Empowering women through awareness of laws and policies affecting their lives
  • Building confidence in navigating complex legal systems
  • Creating a network of empowered women who support and uplift each other
  • Preventing sexual harassment of women at the workplace

The Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies (SCAS) has been actively working towards creating a safe and respectful environment for all employees and students. In association with the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), the ICC has organized several seminars and workshops to promote awareness about women’s rights, prevention of sexual harassment, and legal literacy. The programs were planned and evaluated by committee members during meetings convened in response to specific needs. The committee never received any complaints regarding this matter in the year of 2024-2025.

Activities:

The ICC has organized the following seminars and workshops during the year:

  1. Seminar on “Legal Heads-Up to Women” (October 22, 2024)
  2. Seminar on “Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace” (January 29, 2025)
  3. Seminar on “Prevention of Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace” (January 16, 2025)

These seminars were attended by faculty members, non-teaching staff, and students, and featured resource persons who are experts in the field of women’s rights and legal literacy.

Outcomes:

The seminars and workshops organized by the ICC have had a profound impact on the college community. The outcomes of these events include:

Increased awareness about women’s rights and prevention of sexual harassment

Empowerment of women to take charge of their lives and advocate for their rights

Creation of a network of empowered women who support and uplift each other

Promotion of a culture of respect, inclusivity, and safety in the college community.

SEMINAR REPORT

10-11-2023

Internal Complaints Committee of Sahrdaya College of Advanced studies in association with IQAC conducted the Inauguration of ICC and organized a seminar on “LEGAL RIGHTS AND PROTECTION OF WOMEN” on 10th November 2023at 2.30 pm-4.00pm for PG students Psychology, English, Commerce and staff of the college Adv. Saiby Jose Counselling Psychologist, Mentor, Life Coach, Master Trainer was invited to talk on the subject and to inaugurate ICC. She shared his view points and detailed information about the Legal rights and protection. She also detailed about various laws passed by Indian

Government. The urgency of practicing Legal rights is very important in today’s situation also the protection of women. The programme started at 2.30 pm with the prayer by Ms. Elizabeth Ann Chacko II MA English. in the seminar hall. Ms. Rosna II M Com welcomed the gathering.

The executive director Rev. Dr. Devis Chenginiyadan presided the meeting and addressed the gathering. He shared his valuable thoughts on the topic and enlightened everyone to give more importance to the legal rights and protection of women. The college principal Dr. Mathew Paul Ukken delivered the

Principal’ s message. He appreciated the ICC members for organizing the seminar on a beautiful topic. The vice principal of the college and dean of Science Dr. Joy KL addressed the gathering and shared his valuable thoughts. The programme was concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms. Evlin Jose I MA English. Ms. Sneha T I MSC Clinical Psychology, introduced the resource person. The whole event was beautifully compered by Ms. Asmuthul I Msc Psychology. Feedback was collected from students. Students had good opinion about the seminar. With the immense support of the technical team of the college, ICC could conduct the seminar smoothly.

INTERNAL COMPLAINTS COMMITTEE

REPORT-18TH November 2022

Internals Complaints Committee of Sahrdaya college of advanced studies in association with IQAC conducted the inauguration of ICC and organized a seminar on “Gender Equality” on 18th November 2022 at 2.30 pm-4.00 pm for PG students and entire staff of the college.    Dr. Yacob Thomas, Asst.Professor in Malayalam, KKTM Govt.College was invited to talk on the subject and to inaugurate ICC. He shared his view  points and detailed information about gender equality. He also detailed about various laws passed by Indian Government on gender equality and rights. He defined the concept called gener equality. Gender equality can only be achieved when both male and female individuals are treated similarly. He also pointed out the prevailing scenario of gender equality in the society and how to achieve gender equality in workplace.

The program started at 2.30 pm with the prayer in the seminar hall. ICC presiding officer Dr.Sr. Jessy George welcomed the gathering. College Executive Director Rev. Dr. Devis Chenginiyadan presided the meeting and addressed the gathering. The executive director shared his valuable thoughts on gender equality not just in the workplace, but also in the society. The College principal Dr. Mathew Paul Ukken delivered the Principal’s Message. He appreciated the ICC members for organizing the seminar. The vice principal of the college, Dr.Rani M J addressed the gathering and shared her valuable thoughts. The program concluded with the vote of thanks by Ms.Sandhya Gopinathan, Asst.Professor, Department of Commerce.The whole event was beautifully compered by Aleena Babu,M.Sc Psychology.With the immense support of the technical team of the college, ICC could conduct the seminar smoothly.

Internal Complaint Committee Annual Report 2021-22

The meeting of Internal Complaint Committee of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies was held on 10.08.2021, at 10.30 am in the HR hall.  The meeting was precided by the Principal Dr.Mathew Paul Ukken.  The meeting started with a silent prayer. Dr. Sr. Jessy George welcomed everyone. Annual report was prepared by Ms. Sinimol P J, Assistant Professor, Human excellence department.

In the Academic year 2021-2022, Internal Complaint Committee(ICC) of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara presented a Webinar on “Law & Lustice”, by Adv.Seby J Pulley, Kerala high court, on 9-09-2021 at 2:30 pm to 4.00 pm.

Student representative Ms.Rupasri M (Department of Psychology) and Ms. Haseenaa C T (Department of English) were selected to Internal Complaint Committee.

Due to the Covid 19 situation, ICC was not able to organize any other events.

Dr. Sr. Jessy George welcomed everyone, and Ms. Sinimol P J expressed the vote of thanks. Ms. Sinimol PJ., Assistant professor of Human Excellenace department was selected unanimously as the secretary of Internal Complaint Cell for the Academic Year 2020-21.

In this Academic year, Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) in association with Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara presents a Webinar on Understanding “Internal Complaints Committee” in Workplaces, by Dr. Joyce Jose, Assistant professor, Department of Zoology, St. Thomas College (Autonomous) Thrissur on Saturday (27-02-2021) at 1:30 pm to 3.00 pm.

ICC also conducted a poster making competition in the month of March for the students on “Women friendly campus.” The first prize winner was awarded with a cash prize.

Due to the Covid 19 situation, ICC was not able to organize any other events.

Dr.Sr.Jessy George welcomed everyone and Ms. Sabitha P C expressed the vote of thanks. Ms. Sabitha PC., Assistant professor of Computer Science department was selected unanimously as the secretary of Internal Complaint Committee for the Academic Year 2019-20.

In this Academic year, Internal Complaint Committee (ICC) of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara presented a Webinar on  “Sexual Harassment at workplace”, by Dr.Sunil Kumar Yemman, Asst.Professor, , Sri Sankaracharya University on 23rd August 2019 at 2:30 pm.

ICC also conducted an Essay writing competition in the month of March for the students on “Gender equality”.The first and second prize winners were awarded with a cash prize.
