The Department of Commerce at Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, the largest and one of the most dynamic departments on campus, is committed to fostering global competencies in students through quality education, research, and continuous innovation.
Established in 2012 as the Department of Commerce and Management Studies and restructured in 2014 as the Department of Commerce, it achieved a major milestone in 2015-16 by launching the M.Com program and professional courses. Since then, the department has rapidly expanded its offerings, including prestigious international programs such as ACCA, CMA (US), Enrolled Agent, and US CPA, along with National courses like CMA (IND), CHA, and CS.
Students can choose from 5 specializations in B.Com: Professional, Taxation, Banking, Computer Applications, and Finance. This unique integration of professional learning with a regular B.Com degree has positioned Sahrdaya as the first campus in Kerala to offer such structured programs.
The department is actively involved in hosting academic-oriented programs to nurture and empower its students, many of whom are now distinguished alumni excelling as professors and professionals in reputed MNCs globally, as well as in the banking and finance sectors.

The Department of Commerce offers a wide range of professional courses in Finance and Accounting, delivered by esteemed professional bodies such as the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Cost and Management Accountants of India , and the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI), all under the direct control of the Government of India. Additionally, international certifications like ACCA (UK) and CMA (USA), offered by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK, and the Institute of Management Accountants, USA, respectively, provide global opportunities for our students.
Students can enroll in any professional program of their choice and pursue it alongside their B.Com course. By the time they graduate, they not only hold a B.Com degree but also complete a significant portion or coaching of their chosen professional program up to the intermediate level.
