The NSS Unit CUSFNSS002 of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara celebrated   World Environment  Day on 3rd June 2022 in association with SCAS Nature Club in Kodakara Panchayat. Two events were conducted on the occasion with  participation from  both NSS and Nature Club. It was conducted under the initiative of NSS Programme officer Mr.Akhil Anto  and Nature Club Coordinator Ms. Sreelakshmi N.R. The objective of the programme was to commemorate this year’s theme – “Only One Earth”, focusing on “Living Sustainably in Harmony with Nature”.

Inauguration

The programme started  along with the college assembly  by handing over a sapling to the Chief Guest Mr. Sreekumar R.(Headmaster, Govt. Welfare L.P School, Pulipparakunnu) as the inauguration. The welcome address was delivered by Mr.Akhil Anto, NSS Programme Officer. The Presidential Address was given by Rev.Dr. Devis  Chenginiyaden, Executive Director, SCAS. Dr.Mathew Paul Ukken (Principal, SCAS), Dr. Rani M. J and Dr. Joy K .L.(Vice-Principals, SCAS) felicitated the event .The  SCAS NSS Unit along with the Nature Club went to the Gov.Welfare L.P. School , Puliparakunnu, Kodakara.

Saplings were distributed and the volunteers had a friendly interaction with the children spreading awareness of the Environment Day. After that, the volunteers initiated planting  saplings along the roadside leading to the 16th ward of Aloor-Kodakara road. Upon returning back to the college a detailed discussion about the events was carried out. The programme was concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms.Maria Anto. A total of 35 NSS volunteers participated in the event.
