SPEAK ANGLIA, English training initiative of Postgraduate Department of English was inaugurated at 12noon on 23 February 2021 by Dr.Fr.Devis Chenginiyadan, Executive Director of the Institution. The initiative spearheaded by MA English students of the department, aims at imparting training to familiarize basics of English usages to OMC staff members of the Institution. The inaugural function was attended by Dr.Jenson P.O., Principal, Vice Principals Dr.Rani M.J and Dr. Mathew Paul Ukken, Ms.Sheena Sarah Winny, Head of the Department and staff members of the department. Ms. Maria Joshy, Department Secretary introduced the concept to all present. Sreedevi.K. and Shifanath V.S., second year MA students, opened the training with a session of 30 minutes duration to five members of the OMC.

Follow-up session of Speak Anglia was conducted on Saturday 04-12-2021 from 2.15 to 3.15pm. Dr.Rani MJ, Vice Principal inaugurated the session. Fourteen OMC staff members attended. Two students of MA English and five staff members of the department jointly engaged the session. The aim of the session was to assess the basic skills in English of the OMC staff to ascertain the outcome of the classes imparted in February-March 2021 and the subsequent Hyde Park (public speaking platform) sessions given to them.

Speak Anglia session conducted on 02-04-2022 was inaugurated by Rev. Fr. Sebin Edattukaran, Director, Sahrdaya Sports Academy. The session started at 2.15pm and concluded at 3pm. Sixteen members of the OMC staff attended. Ms. Sheena Sarah Winny, Assistant Professor & Head of the Department and Ms. Maria Joshy, Assistant Professor, imparted lessons on basic conversation skills and refreshed the content of previous sessions.

Speak Anglia session 11 was conducted on Friday 05 August 2022, from 2.30 to 3.15 pm, in Room no. 024, GF, PG Block, of the institution. Twelve OMC staff members attended the session led by Mr. Ajish Paul George and Ms. Metty Joby, both Assistant Professors of the Post Graduate Department of English. The topic of the session was ‘How to give directions in English’. Dr. Mathew Paul Ukken, Principal and other members of faculty of the department were present throughout. The OMC staff members actively participated in the language games during the session.

 

Postgraduate Department of English, Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies organised Speak Anglia sessions 12, 13 and 14 for OMC staff of the institution, on 9, 10 and 11 November 2022 in Room no.027, GF, PG Block. Each session was of 30 minutes duration, conducted
from 2.30 to 3pm. MA English students engaged the sessions. The topics covered include Self-Introduction, Greetings, Word Games, Pronunciation and Reading Stories. The students who engaged the sessions were Ritha, Mariya Sajini, Namitha Nelson K, Jones Anto,
Subhadra Mohan PT, Sanjana Mohan, Elizabeth Ann Chacko, Aiswarya KA, Anchana MJ and Anjana TM. Seventeen OMC staff members attended the sessions. Feedback was taken promptly.
