In connection with the Decennial celebration of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara a ten years Green campus initiative named “SOUHRDA – AGRICULTURE AND LIVESTOCK PROJECT” was launched by joining the NSS unit and Nature club of the college.

The programme started with prayer song. The welcome address was delivered by Ms. Mariya Anto, NSS assistant programme officer. Rev. Dr. Devis Chenginiyadan, Executive director has delivered the presidential address and gave a thoughtful message. The introductory message was given by Principal, Dr. Mathew Paul Ukken. Smt. Ambili Soman, Kodakara  Panchayat President inaugurated the programme and given the inaugural address. She inspired and motivated everyone with her words. Fr. Anto Vattoly felicitated the function. The programme was concluded by a vote of thanks of Ms. Linju C, Nature club coordinator.

The session was celebrated by giving rabbit babies to the Kodakara Panchayat president as the launching of “SOUHRDA AGRICULTURE AND LIVE-STOCK PROJECT”. Following this, the NSS volunteers and the Nature Club members distributed rabbit babies to the selected houses around the campus. The main goal of this project is to give the community the awareness that livestock provides major additional contribution  through draft power, manure, fuel and as a fertilizer, animal products such as meat, milk, eggs while poultry provide daily cash income and much required nutrition to farmers.

The NSS volunteers and Nature Club members made sure that to tell the selected families to take care of the rabbit babies. The families were very much happy and they promise to take of the babies. A total of 37 NSS volunteers participated in the programme.
