On October 6, 2023, the first-year BCA students embarked on a profoundly enriching visit to Pope Paul Mercy Home in Peringandoor. The purpose of the visit was to foster empathy, understanding, and compassion among the students as they interacted with the residents of this noble institution.

Forty-eight BCA students, accompanied by Class Animator Jesteena Joy and Miss Vineesha, boarded the college bus at 9:10 AM. The journey took approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes, and the students arrived at Pope Paul Mercy Home around 10:30 AM and back to SCAS by 2:30 AM

Pope Paul Mercy Home Established in 1977, the home provides various programs, including Santhivanam for mentally challenged children, Ashanilayam for grown-up boys, Ashavanam for grown-up girls, and Prathyasha Bhavan, a vocational training center for mentally challenged individuals.

During the visit, the BCA students had a chance to see the vocational training units in action, including baking, and explore the handicraft products crafted by the residents of Pope Paul Mercy Home. Many students chose to purchase these handmade products, supporting the residents’ creativity and skills.
