- Shed some light on the necessary skills for the employment and entrepreneurship of young people.
In 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared 15 July as World Youth Skills Day, to celebrate the strategic importance of equipping young people with skills for employment, decent work and entrepreneurship. The theme for World Youth Skills Day 2023 is Skilling teachers, trainers and youth for a transformative future. It highlights the essential role that teachers, trainers and other educators play in providing skills for youth to transition to the labour market and to actively engage in their communities and societies.
The Department of Human Excellence pioneered to celebrate World Youth Skill Day, PERSONA CALIFICADA on 15 July 2023, with various skill based activities. As a part of it, department conducted an online skill based aptitude test, which was aimed for testing the basic soft skills of students. The link for the same was opened on Linways for 24 hours. The shortlisted winners were provided by the opportunity to proceed to the final offline advanced skill based competitions such as, team skills, time management, basic skills, linguistic skills, general knowledge, presentation and leadership skills, which was held on 15th July 2023. 45 students were shortlisted for level 2 of the competition. Final winners chosen after 3 tough rounds of the same are- first second and third prizes bagged by Agna Ann Justin (3rd year Bcom CHA), Rosemol (3rd year Bcom ACCA), and Shubham Pawar (3rd year Bcom Fintech) respectively.
OUTCOME:
World Youth Skill Day is celebrated to emphasis the need for imparting the right skills to youth for employment and entrepreneurship.
