Postgraduate Department of English organised the launch of Student-Teacher Initiative under the aegis of Episteme: Academic Skill Upgradation Programme of the department on 06 September 2021 on Microsoft Teams.  The Chief Guest was Dr.Chacko Jose P, Principal, St.Aloysius College, Elthuruth, Thrissur. In his keynote address following the launch, Dr. Chacko Jose P, shared his experiences of 27 years of teaching profession and added that the profession is designed for those who are passionate and humble. The event commenced at 12.20 pm with a moment of silent invocation, which was followed by welcome address delivered by Ms.Sheena Sarah Winny, Assistant Professor & Head. The focus of the presidential address articulated by Dr.Fr.Devis Chenginiyadan, Executive Director of the college, was on humanity and learning. Dr.Mathew Paul Ukken, Principal, in his message enlightened the participants about mentorship and its role in higher education. Ms.Catherine Rose Alex, Student, third year BA English presented the concluding remarks and extended the note of gratitude. The event which concluded at 1 pm was attended by Vice Principals Dr.Rani M.J. and Dr. K.L Joy and 36 other participants comprising staff and students of the department. Ms.Supriya K.K, Assistant Professor was the moderator. The initiative envisioned to identify passionate student-teachers from among the students of the department and design and deliver teaching sessions by students of the senior batches under the supervision of teachers, was introduced on the previous day with the announcement of a curtain raiser activity wherein students were invited to share teaching videos of 5 minutes duration. Nine students responded and they are second year BA English students Gauri E, Amrutha Menon, Nourin Biju and P.A Hassna; third year BA English student Catherine Rose Alex; second year MA English students Mirna Fathima, Anagha Das, Ashna Manuval and Sreelakshmi N. Two teaching videos from among the nine were screened at the launch.
