The NSS Unit CUSFNSS002 of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies Kodakara conducted an anti-tobacco awareness programme on 31st March 2022 at Kodakara panchayat. It was conducted under the initiative of NSS programme officer Mr.Akhil Anto. The objective of the programme was to spread awareness on the consumption of tobacco under the legal age.

Inaugural session

The programme started with a welcome address by Mr. Akhil Anto, NSS Programme Officer. The Presidential Address was given by Ms. Divya Shaju (Chairperson, Education & Health Standing Committee). Ms. Ambili Soman (Panchayat President, Kodakara) inaugurated the event. Dr. K. K. Smitha (Family Health Centre Medical Officer, Kodakara), Mr. Shaju, (President, Trade & Industry coordinating committee), Rev. Fr. Dr. Devis Chenginiyadan (Executive Director, SCAS), Dr. Mathew Paul Ukken (Principal, SCAS) felicitated the event.

The NSS volunteers were provided with instructions from the representatives of Health Department and directions were assigned to the students. The volunteers were divided into 7 groups consisting of 5 members each. The volunteers started the campaign by giving notices to the shop-owners. After the campaign the programme was concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Edwin Jaison (NSS volunteer). 42 NSS volunteers participated in the event.
