Department of Social Work
The Department of Social Work affiliated to University of Calicut is established in the year 2022. The Department is officially inaugurated by Honorable Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice, Kerala Sri. Dr. R. Bindhu on 26th February 2022 during Decennial Celebration of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara. Currently Department offers two year Post Graduation Programme in Master of Social Work with specializations in Medical and Psychiatric Social Work as well as Rural and Urban Community Development.
As a practice based profession, the programme enhances the skills and knowledge of students in social work methods such as Social Case Work, Social Group Work, Community organization and Social Work Research. The programme curriculum consists of fifteen core theory courses, besides four theory courses in each specialisation. Social Work Education is aided through Field work which is designed to provide a variety of opportunities to develop and enhance practice skills. Major components of fieldwork are Observation visits, Community living experience/ camp, Concurrent field work, Seven day Study Tour, summer placement and block placement.

Eligibility for Admission
Entrance Examination marks conducted by University of Calicut.
Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline recognised by the University of Calicut with a minimum of 50% marks.
