Differently Abled Students(DIVYANGJAN)

Education is a right to all and every student regardless of any ability or disability deserves an education. Taking a pledge to secure the rights of persons with disabilities, Grievance Redressal Committee for physically handicapped students established in 2017-18, aims to cater to the diverse needs of physically challenged students at Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara.The aim of the Committee is to enhance the skills of these students to their maximum potential and to ensure their use of opportunities which would make them self-dependent.It is not a charity mode with just a provision of opportunities but is in tune with the basic norm of inclusive education.

The following facilities are provided in the College campus to cater to the needs of the differently abled students.

  1. The college has a special facility of ramp and rails for the disabled students. The main entrances and exits are clearly identifiable and easily accessible and it can accommodate wheelchair users. Steps and ramps have hand railings and the entrance permitting access to a conveniently located lift.
  2. Separate toilets are available for people with disabilities. They are clearly identifiable and accessible. The doors are wide enough and lockable from inside and releasable from outside. All floor surfaces are slip resistant. Mirrors, flushing arrangements, dispensers mounted at appropriate heights.
  3. The college provides the students to take the help of scribes in the examination. A physically disabled / blind / hearing impaired candidate and the scribes for such a candidate shall be allowed an extra time of 20 minutes per hour.
  4. A proper arrangement is made to shift the entire class to the ground floor for the convenience of any student with locomotor disability.
