Department of Human Excellence and IQAC jointly organized two days faculty development programme 2022-23- FACULTAS PROGRESSIO on 28th and 30th May, 2022.
DAY 1 (28th May, 2022)
The programme began with the Holy Mass in the SCAS Chapel.
Facultas Progressio began with a prayer song followed by welcome speech extended by SCAS Principal, Dr. Mathew Paul Ukken wherein he welcomed the resource person for the day- Dr. Jolly Andrews CMI, the Principal of Christ College, Irinjalakuda. Thereafter, SCAS Executive Director, Rev. Fr. Dr. Devis Chenginiyadan presented the Presidential address highlighting the importance of effective teaching.
The programme was inaugurated with the lamp lighting ceremony followed by the keynote address delivered by the guest speaker, Dr. Jolly Andrews CMI. He explained the changes brought by New Education Policy and how it is going to benefit the higher education system in India. He further went on to discuss about NAAC requirements and congratulated Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies for making a progress in work aimed towards achieving NAAC accreditation. He also discussed about best teaching practises that can benefit the students and institution at large. He shared extremely useful teaching methodology that teachers can adopt in making their lectures more efficient and effective.
After the session, Executive Director presented a memento to Dr. Jolly Andrews CMI as a token of gratitude and appreciation. Thereafter, SCAS Vice Principal, Dr. Rani M.J. proposed Vote of Thanks.
The programme proceeded by the introductory address by SCAS Executive Director Rev. Fr. Dr. Devis Chenginiyadan. Principal Dr. Mathew Paul Ukken presented the academic overview of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies. It was followed by a briefing upon the world of Sahrdaya presented by Vice Principal, Dr. Rani M.J. IQAC Co-ordinator, Ms. Sheena Sarah shared the updates on NAAC related work and congratulated IQAC Criterion In-charges and their team for their perseverance in timely completion of work.
Post lunch, the programme recommenced with admissions in-charge, Professor VJ Thomas (HOD Commerce) sharing the details of SCAS admission 2022-23.
The day 1 of Facultas Progressio concluded with IQAC criterion in-charges sharing their thoughts and experiences about NAAC related work.
DAY 2 (30th May, 2022)
The second day of FDP Facultas Progressio began with a prayer.
SCAS Executive Director, Rev. Dr. Devis Chenginiyadan shared the importance of reading motivational books. He suggested a few books , such as ‘Nudge’, which faculty of Sahrdaya should consider reading and further suggest these to the students.
SCAS Vice Principal Dr. K.L. Joy welcomed the resource person, Dr. Sebin S. Kottaram. It was followed by Executive Director’s message. Rev. Dr. Devis Chenginiyadan discussed about the importance of training sessions for the teaching faculty and emphasized upon implementation of the same in the classroom. Thereafter, SCAS Principal Dr. Mathew Paul Ukken spoke about the relevance of teacher-student centric approach and innovative teaching methodology for effective learning.
The programme was then followed by the session inauguration by Dr. Sebin S. Kottaram. He discussed the importance of thinking big and the power of subconscious mind. He emphasized upon the impact our thoughts have in our lives. Through interesting activities, he demonstrated the way we underestimate our own potential and the importance of keeping positive attitude towards life. The faculty found the session very engaging and useful. In the end, feedback was collected from each participant.
The programme was concluded with a Vote of Thanks proposed by SCAS Vice Principal, Dr. Rani M.J. She congratulated the entire team of Human Excellence
