As part of International Yoga Day, NSS Unit and Physical Education Department of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies celebrated Yoga Day on June 21. The programme started at 10.40 am with a prayer song by Sneha K.C, Gayatri P.V (NSS volunteers). Dr. Paul Chacko (Associate Professor and Head of the Department, Physical Education) welcomed everyone and emphasized about the evolution of yoga. Fr. Dr. Devis Chenginiyadan (Executive Director, Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies) congratulated all the NSS volunteers and physical education department for organizing the event. He spoke about the importance of this day and how yoga should be a part of our tradition. Dr. Mathew Paul Ukken (Principal, Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies) said the key note. All the distinguished guests spoke about the importance of yoga. Dr. Rani. M. J (Vice Principal, Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies) felicitated the programme and explained the importance of yoga in this pandemic situation and its benefits.

The chief guest, Mr. Abhimanyu K. S (Yoga Instructor, Yuansu International Fitness Center, China) spoke about the importance of making yoga a part of our daily lives. He pointed out how this would help prevent stress. Then there was a demonstration of various Asanas such as sun salutation, pranayama and some stretching postures. Mr. Akhil Anto (NSS programme officer) thanked everyone who participated in the programme.
