Department of Mathematics, SCAS has organized a One-Day seminar on “Introduction to Metric Spaces” on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 10.20 a.m. in the Decennial hall (Room No.: 425). The speaker was Dr. Sabna K. S., Assistant Professor, KKTM College, Pullut. The session was inaugurated by the Executive Director of SCAS, Rev. Dr. Devis Chenginiyadan. Dr. Mathew Paul Ukken, Principal, SCAS felicitated over the function.
The guest of the day, Dr. Sabna K. S., Executive Director Rev. Dr. Devis Chenginiyadan and Vice Principal, SCAS Dr. K. L. Joy gave away the prizes for the winners of the Pi-Approximation Competition conducted by the department on behalf of Pi-day on March 14, 2022. The official meeting came to an end at 10.35 a.m. with an official vote of thanks by Ms. Parvathy G. Menon, Programme Coordinator of the department.
Followed by the meeting, the speaker gave the talk on Introduction to Metric Spaces. Dr. Sabna introduced the term distance between 2 points, generalized the concept to the metric and provided examples of the same, like taxi cab geometry. The talk was interactive and interesting. With an official vote of thanks by Tesa Mariya of I year B.Sc. Mathematics, the session came to an end at 11.30 a.m. Almost 130 students attended the seminar.
