OUTCOME BASED EDUCATION – A Practical Session For Department Heads
The Department of Computer Science, in collaboration with the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC), organized a practical session on Outcome-Based Education (OBE) for the department heads of SCAS. The event took place on 25th November 2024 at 10:30 am in the AV Room, with Mr. Renjith M., Associate HOD of Computer Science, leading the session.
The session aimed to familiarize department heads with the principles of Outcome-Based Education and equip them with practical tools to implement OBE effectively within their departments. This session underscored the importance of aligning educational practices to produce measurable, student-centered outcomes.This session was to equip department heads with the knowledge and skills required to implement and promote OBE within their respective departments. The session covered key concepts of OBE, focusing on setting clear learning outcomes, aligning assessment practices, and creating strategies to ensure students achieve the intended outcomes.
Mr. Renjith began by introducing the key principles of Outcome-Based Education, emphasizing its focus on defining and achieving specific learning outcomes. He highlighted how OBE shifts the educational process from traditional teaching methods to a more structured, outcome-oriented approach.By the end of the session, department heads gained valuable insights and strategies to implement OBE effectively. The session reinforced the role of OBE in fostering a structured, outcome-focused education model, and participants left with actionable plans to apply within their departments. Follow-up support from IQAC was also proposed to assist departments in implementing and assessing OBE practices.
