Department of Management Studies and Department of Commerce jointly organised a webinar series from 27th July 2020 on the topic “Research Analysis using Excel and SPSS” The session was handled by Dr. Madhusoodhanan Kartha, Assistant Professor – Department of Commerce, Panampilly Government College Chalakudy.
Objectives of the webinar was
• Empower research scholars and Faculties to use MS Excel as a data analysis tool.
• Incubating knowledge to use IBM-SPSS for data analysis.
The first session of the webinar series commenced on Monday 27th July at 7.30pm with a welcome note addressed by Asst. Prof. Binny Francis (Faculty – Department of Commerce) and speaker Dr. Madhusoodhanan Kartha took over the session. The webinar series continued for eight sessions on various days and concluded on 17th August by arranging an open discussion with all participants for clarifying all queries related with the entire webinar series. The session wound up by vote of thanks delivered by Asst. Prof. Anu Jose (Faculty – Department of Management Studies).
The session was successful in generating a proper insight into statistical data analysis using Microsoft Excel and IBM SPSS. Dr Madhusoodhanan Kartha explained the functionalities of testing data, Normality check of questions and usage of parametric and non parametric testing tools in SPSS package. The session was an eye opener for all faculties and research scholars who participated in the event.
Conduct of Webinar
The invitation for webinar circulated among various social media platforms a week before the session along with Google registration form with a nominal registration fee of Rs.500/-. Twenty participants registered and attended the webinar from various colleges around Kerala. The speaker was rewarded with an amount of Rs.10,000/- for the eight sessions of the webinar. Webinar was hosted in Google meet platform and a whatsapp group was created for sharing meeting link and enhanced communication. After the webinar the participants were issued feedback forms through email where by the participants will get e certificate on submitting the feedback form. In general the feedback mentions that overall conduct and webinar was a grand success and participants assured to participate in future webinars organised by the departments.
