SEMINAR ON CYBER SECURITY AWARENESS AND ETHICAL HACKING

 

The Seminar on Cyber Security Awareness and Ethical Hacking was conducted on 16TH February 2024 at Seminar hall by the PG Department of Computer Science for 2023 batch BCA,BSC CS & BSC IT students by Mr Kaviraj S (Sr.Cyber Security Specialist Expert in Digital Forgensic). It aimed to educate participants about the importance of cyber security in today’s digital age and to provide insights into ethical hacking practices

Dr.Joy K.L.(Head of the department) delivered welcomed addresses, the Principal Dr.Mathew Paul Ukken addresses the students.The class began with an overview of cyber security, including common threats such as malware, phishing, and ransomware. Participants learned about the importance of data protection and the potential consequences of cyber attacks.The session delved into the concept of ethical hacking, emphasizing its role in identifying and addressing security weaknesses before malicious actors exploit them. Key principles of ethical hacking, such as permission, legality, and confidentiality, were discussed.Participants were introduced to penetration testing, a core component of ethical hacking. They learned about the different phases of penetration testing, including reconnaissance, scanning, exploitation, and reporting..The seminar concluded with a discussion on cyber security best practices for individuals and organizations. Topics included password management, software patching, network segmentation, and incident response planning.Association Secretary Richard J Vellanikaran of 3rd year bsc cs progressed the vote of thanks and concluded the seminar session
