Women Development Cell, SCAS in association with Vaidyarathnam Oushadhashala, Thrissur conducted a seminar on women health and empowerment through Ayurveda – Angana- on 28-02-22 at 2.30 pm. The session started with a prayer by Aleena K. Daison of I BSC CS. Women Cell Coordinator, Ms. Savithri M. welcomed the gathering. In his presidential address, the Executive Director, SCAS stressed the role of women in the society and the need for their empowerment. Dr. Mathew Paul Ukken, Principal, SCAS, inaugurated the session. Dr. Rani M.J., Vice Principal, SCAS felicitated the event. Dr. Jyotish S. Jayandan, Branch Physician, Vaidyarathnam Oushadhashala, Irinjalakkuda introduce the programme “Angana” to the audience. Thereafter Dr. Gopika K, Senior Physician, Vaidyarathnam Oushadhashala, Olloor, gave a session on women health with particular focus on adolescent health and care through Ayurveda. She said that women is the link to the next generation and we should endevour to develop a healthy generation. She also endorsed management of health through Ayurveda and opined that prevention is better than cure and not only physical health, but also mental health should be taken care of. She stressed on women health and problems and concerns related to menstruation, menopause and perimenopause. Drug abuse was also a focus of the session as well as mobile addiction in adolescents and behavioural changes. The session was a fruitful one for the students who gained a better insight into the problems and concerns faced by women and adolescents. At the end of the session Alit P. Saji of I BSc Psychology delivered the vote of thanks. Including teachers and students a total of 212 members participated in the session.
