In connection with decennial celebration of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara a ten year Green campus initiative named ‘SOUHRDA – AGRICULTURE AND LIVE-STOCK PROJECT’ was launched. The programme was jointly coordinated by NSS and Nature Club.
Handing over the planted sapling to Executive Director by NSS Programme Officer
The programme was started with prayer by NSS volunteers. The welcome address was delivered by the NSS programmer officer Mr. Akhil Anto. Rev. Dr. Devis Chenginiyadan, Executive Director delivered the presidential address and gave an insightful message on the importance of agriculture in our daily lives. Our Principal, Dr. Mathew Paul Ukken delivered the introductory message. Rev. Fr. Anto Vattoly, Finance officer, honoured the chief guest Mr. Sujith P. G by handing over a sapling.
Inaugural Session
In this special occasion, an awareness talk on ‘INTEGRATED FARMING’ was given by Agricultural Officer Mr. Sujith P G, Mobile Soil Testing Lab, Thrissur. The programme was held in the seminar hall at 9.30 am. In this session he said about different methods of Integrated farming. So, it will conversely help both the vegetables and the animal. And explain about the simplest method for testing the quality of soil, without any machines. The vote of thanks was proposed by Nature club coordinator Ms. Sreelakshmi N R.
The session was followed by setting a vegetable garden in the college premises by the students. Every NSS volunteers were the part of this project and everyone worked hard to plant around 100 saplings of different kind of vegetables. All students were very attentive from the beginning, mixing of manure and soil, filling the mixture in the bag and plant the sapling in it. The programs were concluded at around 12.35pm. The participants were first year NSS volunteers (48) and first year Nature Club members (29).
