2. MEALS TO THE NEEDY
The greatest challenge for the sustainable development goals (SDGs) is to
eradicate poverty and hunger while maintaining sustainable food security
assurance of clothes and shelter for all in a crowded and dramatically unequal
world. Although the world has succeeded in reducing poverty in accordance
with the millennium development goal (MDG) targets, food security and
adequate life standard is not achieved. Only accountability by those who
produce food, clothes and shelter and distribute them to the society can bring

about any permanent change in this regard. This means that access to food,
clothes and shelter needs to be treated as a human right, not just as a policy, a
right that is to protected by all means.
The students of higher education in India need to be aware of the plight of the
needy people too. They lack nutritious food, proper shelter and essential
clothes. If they can reach out the needy it will be very helpful. If students
inculcate the value of sharing they can mould a new generation who will take up
the responsibility of poor and downtrodden. They should realise that it is unfair
to have some people enjoy good food while the poor people long to have a meal
per day. This attempt will be a an eye opener to the rulers of the country, so that
they may take immediate steps to the creation of a society where equality is
the primary concern.
