In association with World Forestry Day which are observing on March 21 st , the Nature Club members of SCAS went on a study trip to Mangalavanam in Ernakulum District on 19/03/2024. We began the journey with a briefing of Mangalavanam by the Exe. Director, Rev. Dr. Devis Chenginiyadan. A total of 20 students and 4 faculty members accompanied us. The students were divided into 4 groups, and their focus areas were distributed. Mangalavanam is an ecologically sensitive area located in the center of the Indian city of Kochi, covering approximately 2.74 hectares. In addition, it houses a shallow tidal lake that is connected to Kochi backwaters by a canal. This area is located behind the Kerala High Court building. The Mangalavanam ecosystem is in the Ernakulum district of Kerala located at 90°59’ N latitude and 76°16’ E longitude. It is a small area of greenery that includes a tidal wetland ecosystem. The overall the visit was great success and inspiring.
