Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies hosted a two-day webinar on “COVID 19: MENTAL HEALTH IMPACTS AND STRESS MANAGEMENT” from 16th-17th June 2020. The Human Excellence Department initiative, supported by the Department of Psychology, turned out to be a grand success. Dr. Varghese Punnoose, HoD, Psychiatry, Govt. TD Medical College Alappuzha was the resource person for the first session. The doctor focused on the reasons for the increasing number of suicides among Covid – 19 positive patients and stressed the importance of releasing our common sense and civic sense from groundless fears so that we effectively prevent the spread of the pandemic. Rev. Dr. Rajeev Michael, Clinical Psychologist, St. Joseph’s Hospital, Manjummel, Kochi addressed the second session in which the speaker elaborated on Stress Management. Rev. Dr. Rajeev gave a number of tips to manage stress effectively, which would be of great help to anyone while going through traumatic experiences. Each of the sessions had time for interaction with the speaker and the participants actively responded to the same. On the second day, the resource person graciously granted the members a chance to interact personally, respecting the privacy of the individuals. We do hope the partakers have made use of the option. Considering the relevance of the topics and the overwhelming response we received soon after the announcement for registration, the sessions were made available on youtube for the public to view. Feedbacks were collected online and E-certificates were provided to the participants.
