III BSc PSYCHOLOGY
CBT- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is the department add on course provided to the third year BSc Psychology students by the department of psychology in association with Institute of Counselling and Transactional Analysis (ICTA), Kochi. Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) is a common type of talk therapy (psychotherapy). CBT helps become aware of inaccurate or negative thinking so you can view challenging situations more clearly and respond to them in a more effective way.CBT is a useful tool to address emotional challenges. Dr. Assisssi Menachery from the same institution was the faculty in charge for the programme. It was a 40 hour programme, distributed as 3 hours/ week (first three hours of every Wednesday).the class was started on 21 August 2019. But it was dropped by faculty after completing 24 hours. The certificate provided for 38 students by ICTA, Kochi after evaluating their assignment works.
The feedback for completed classes obtained from students were satisfactory.
I MSC PSYCHOLOGY & I MSC CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGY
CBT- Cognitive Behaviour Therapy is the department add on course provided to the first year MSc Psychology and first year MSc clinical Psychology students by the department of psychology in association with Institute of Counselling and Transactional Analysis (ICTA), Kochi. CBT builds a set of skills that enables an individual to be aware of thoughts and emotions; identify how situations, thoughts, and behaviors influence emotions; and improve feelings by changing dysfunctional thoughts and behaviors. It is a 30 hour programme distributed as 3 hours/ week (last three hours of every Thursday). Mr. Sebastian Arakkal from the ICTA, Kochi was faculty in charge for the programme. And the same agency provided the certificate for the 43 students after conducting the assignments at the end of the class. The class was started on 23 January 2020 and completed 18 hours.
The feedback was taken from students, they expressed that it was helpful for them to understand the importance of reconstructing negative thoughts for modifying dysfunctional thoughts and behaviours.
