Department of Commerce
The Department of Commerce, the largest department of Sahrdaya College of Advanced studies focuses on nurturing global competencies in students through quality education, research and continuous innovation. The department started its operations in the year 2012 as Department of Commerce and Management studies by offering B.Com finance and BBA courses. Since 2014, the department is functioning as Department of Commerce. Academic year 2015-16 saw a major mile stone in the history of the department as it is during this year, the department started offering Master of Commerce (M.Com) programme and also Professional courses in Finance and accounting also, Chartered Accountancy course was offered along with B.Com Finance. From there, within a span of 4 years, the department has grown leaps and bounds with 3 National and 2 International programmes and 5 Specialisations in B.Com i.e. Professional, Taxation, Finance, and Computer Application . This has enabled SCAS to be the first campus in Kerala to offer structured professional learning programme with regular B.Com degree.

Why B.Com @Sahrdaya?
The department offers Professional courses in the field of Finance and Accounting which are imparted by professional bodies like the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI), Cost and Management Accountants of India (CMAI) and Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) which is directly under the control of the Government of India or its international counterparts in case of International Courses like ACCA which is offered by Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, UK and CMA USA which is offered by Institute of Management Accountants, USA.
The students can enrol for any of the professional programme of their choice and also continue with it along with their B.Com course. A student, by the time he/she completes three years in the college, would have completed the regular B.Com degree and also some level of the Professional programme or atleast its coaching till intermediate level as the case may be which clearly gives him/her an added edge.
