Anti-Narcotics Awareness Campaign

The NSS Unit 291 of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies (Autonomous), in collaboration with the Anti-Narcotics Cell and IQAC, organized a comprehensive Anti-Narcotics Awareness Campaign aimed at sensitizing students to the dangers of drug abuse through a series of engaging events. The campaign was formally inaugurated at the College Central Auditorium by Rev. Dr. Devis Chenginiyadan, Executive Director of the college, who urged students to become proactive in the fight against drug use. The keynote address was delivered by Sri. Bejoy P.R., DySP, Special Branch, Thrissur Rural District, who emphasized the role of students in supporting law enforcement and preventing the spread of drug mafias. “Life itself should be your high—not drugs,” he powerfully stated. Principal Dr. Joy K.L. administered the Anti-Narcotics Pledge, reinforcing the college’s stand against substance abuse. The campaign also featured a soul-stirring anti-drug song led by student coordinator Ms. Angel Rose, themed “Music is our rhythm of life.”  In the afternoon, promoting the message “Sports is our passion,” a Free Throw Challenge Competition was held, with the following winners:

First Prize: Jerome Thomas (3rd Year B.Sc. IT)
Second Prize: Juan Shibu Mathew (1st Year B.Com)
Third Prize: Yadu Praveen (1st Year B.Com)
The valedictory session was addressed by Vice Principal Dr. Karuna K., who also distributed prizes. Fr. Sebin Vazhapally (Finance Officer) and Dr. Paul Chacko (HoD, Physical Education) congratulated the participants and encouraged a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. The campaign effectively delivered a strong message of unity against narcotics, highlighting the power of music, sports, and social responsibility as positive alternatives to drug use.
