A Unique New Year Celebration by the NSS Unit of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies
To usher in a cleaner, greener, and healthier Kerala, the NSS Unit of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies observed Anti-Litter Week as part of its New Year celebrations. The event commenced with the unveiling of the poster “My Waste, My Responsibility” by the College Executive Director, Rev. Dr. Devis Chenginiyadan, who urged students to take proactive steps toward effective waste management. The College Principal, Dr. Joy K.L., led a pledge for a waste-free Kerala, inspiring everyone to commit to sustainable practices. NSS Volunteer Secretary Poornima Shankar, along with the students, performed a heartfelt environmental conservation song, highlighting the urgency of protecting nature. As part of the campaign, students harvested fresh produce from their vegetable garden, symbolizing their dedication to self-reliance and eco-friendly living. They also organized a cleanliness drive, collecting plastic waste along the roads and surroundings near Pulipparakunnu Junction, reinforcing the importance of community participation in keeping Kerala clean.The College Finance Officer, Fr. Anto Vattoly, engaged with the students, motivating them to remain steadfast in their commitment to environmental preservation. NSS student coordinators Samuel Varghese and Milana Jaison played pivotal roles in steering the activities, ensuring the success of this meaningful initiative. This celebration not only marked the start of the New Year but also reaffirmed the NSS Unit’s unwavering dedication to a sustainable and healthy Kerala.
