The Department of Social Work, Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies(Autonomous), Kodakara, in collaboration with Ocean Students Community, Poovar organized the “DREAMS – Coastal Summer Camp 2026” at Angels High School from 20th April to 27th April 2026. A total of 45 children participated in the camp.
The camp was inaugurated by M. Vincent, MLA, Kovalam Constituency. Various interactive ice-breaking sessions and life skill training programmes were conducted throughout the camp. Sessions included creative thinking, communication skills, self-awareness, problem solving, empathy, coping with stress, interpersonal relationships, teamwork, leadership, and time management.
Awareness sessions on good touch and bad touch, personal hygiene and healthy lifestyle, peer pressure, and mobile addiction were also organized using activity-based methods and role plays. Cultural programmes were conducted to encourage creativity and participation among students. A parenting session was also arranged for parents in various wards.
On 26th and 27th April 2026, MSW students in associate with KNM college studnets conducted a socio-economic survey in four wards of Poovar Panchayat to understand the social and economic conditions of the community. The camp concluded with a valedictory function and feedback session, marking the successful completion of the programme
