At the end of the BA English Language and Literature Honours programme at Calicut University, a student would:

PSO1   Enhance communication proficiency to encompass advanced interpersonal, linguistic, and presentation skills, augmented by a nuanced comprehension of cross-cultural awareness, essential for navigating and excelling in today’s competitive global

scenario.

PSO2   Foster the cultivation of socially responsible and democratic-oriented students

endowed with a profound comprehension of gender equality, environmental stewardship, and constitutional principles.

PSO3   Critically analyse and interpret literary and cultural texts across genres, discerning

underlying ideas, values, and themes, and assess their influence in historical and contemporary cultural and societal contexts.

PROGRAMME OUTCOME OF OLD SYLLABUS BA ENGLISH:

At the end of the BA English programme at Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara , a student would have:
1. Attained effective skills  in oral and written communication as they will be strong in Grammar and its usage.
2. Established a thorough command of English and its linguistic structures.
3. Ability to apply critical frameworks to analyze the linguistic, cultural and historical background of texts written in English.
4. Obtained a knowledge of the conventions of diverse textual genres including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, autobiography, biography, Journal, films, plays, editorials etc.
5. Acquired a positive attitude to life and evaluate and overcome setbacks based on the insights that the texts provide.

Programme Outcomes of MA English

At the end of the MA English programme at Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara , a student would have:

  1. Familiarized with the representative literary and cultural texts
    within a significant number of historical, geographical, and cultural contexts.
  2. Attained an enhanced critical thinking that makes them capable of interpreting and exploring relationships from the points of
    view of different people.
  3. Sensitized with the critical tools used in the reading of literature.
  4. Procured an idea of the complex nature of literary studies and how they are entangled with
    other aspects of the social body.
  5. Gained perceptive insights into the socio-political dynamics, the structuring points of view,
    the dominant ideology, hegemony, the prevailing common sense and communal
    underpinnings that mediate the writing, production, reception and survival of a work.
