The session on “Angel Investment/VC Funding Opportunity for Early-Stage Entrepreneurs” was organized at Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies by Institution Innovation Council with the aim of familiarizing students with the scope of venture capital and angel investments in building successful entrepreneurial ventures.
The event commenced with a prayer by the College Choir, followed by a welcome address delivered by Adithya P D (Student). The presidential address was given by Rev. Dr. Davis Chennipedayan (Executive Director, SCAS), and the Principal’s message was delivered by Dr. Joy K L (Principal, SCAS). Felicitations were offered by Dr. Karuna K (Vice Principal) and Fr. Sebin Vazhappally (Finance Officer, SCAS). Mr. Basin began with an insightful talk on the importance of angel investment and venture capital funding as crucial support systems for budding entrepreneurs. He explained how early-stage ventures can attract investment by identifying real-life problems, presenting scalable business models, and ensuring value creation for society.
To provide practical exposure, the resource person conducted a group activity: The entire class was divided into 12 groups. Each group was asked to identify a real problem faced by society. They were then asked to conceptualize and introduce an innovative product or service to address the problem. This interactive activity encouraged students to think creatively, work collaboratively, and apply entrepreneurial strategies in a simulated environment. The exercise also helped them understand how problem-solving and innovation form the backbone of successful startups.
