The World Disaster Management Day was observed at Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara, under the joint auspices of NSS Unit 291, IQAC, and NCC, bringing together students and faculty to promote awareness, preparedness, and community resilience. The programme was inaugurated by Shri K. G. Pransing, Deputy Collector (Disaster Management, Thrissur), who handed over First Aid Kits to the NSS volunteers. In his inaugural address, he reflected on the Tsunami and the Wayanad disasters, highlighting the significance and evolution of disaster management. He also urged students to stay informed about current affairs through regular newspaper reading. Principal Dr. Joy K. L. delivered the welcome address, emphasizing the growing importance of disaster management knowledge in the context of today’s changing climate. Rev. Dr. Joji Kallingal, Associate Executive Director, felicitated the Deputy Collector during the ceremony. A comprehensive disaster management training session for students was conducted by the Puthukkad Fire Force Unit. The session covered essential skills such as handling fire emergencies, creating temporary structures during crisis situations, administering CPR, and other vital techniques. It proved to be highly interactive and informative, helping students understand how to respond effectively in emergency scenarios. The event was successfully coordinated under the leadership of Dr. Karuna K. (Vice Principal), Fr. Sibin Vazhapilly (Finance Officer), and Snigdha Sushil (NSS Student Coordinator).
