The Bhoomithrasena Club of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies (Autonomous) inaugurated its activities for the academic year 2026–27 on 5 June 2026, in observance of World Environment Day, at the Aula Magna. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, faculty members, and club members.
The event began with a prayer, followed by a welcome address by Ms. Shiji V. K., Convenor of the Bhoomithrasena Club, who highlighted the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable living. Rev. Dr. Joji Kalingal, Executive Director of SCAS, delivered the presidential address, emphasizing the role of educational institutions in fostering environmental awareness.
The inaugural ceremony was conducted by Rev. Fr. Joy Peenikaparambil, Manager of Christ College (Autonomous), Irinjalakuda, and recipient of the Vana Mithra Award. In his inaugural address, he stressed the significance of biodiversity conservation and the collective responsibility of protecting nature for future generations. Dr. Joy K. L., Principal of SCAS, offered felicitations, while a nature-themed poem recitation by Anagha C. Jayesh of II B.Com Finance added a creative touch to the programme.
The chief guest was honoured for his valuable contribution, and Gopika Muraleedharan of III B.Sc. Chemistry proposed the vote of thanks. The programme concluded with the National Anthem. As part of the celebration, saplings were distributed and tree-planting activities were carried out across the college
