B.Sc. Geology

Geology is the scientific study of earth science. A geologist contributed their part to the Nation through the descriers of new deposits of rocks and minerals of economic value. As we know, minerals are the milestone of modern civilization. Thus the science of geology is a fascinating subject that feels the pulse of the earth. It is a multifaceted field with different areas of specialization such as environmental geology, Geomorphology, Geochemistry, Geophysics, Hydrology, Petrology, Mineralogy & Crystallography, Structural geology, Photo geology, Petroleum geology, Economic geology etc.

It is a well-established disciplinary branch of science and engineering that has a scope in different fields. In civil engineering, geology provides necessary information about the site construction of buildings, dams, reservoirs, tunnels, bridges, and highways. Geological information is most important in the planning phase, design phase, and construction phase of engineering projects. In mining, geology is useful to know its method of mining of rock and mineral deposits.

A Geologist can join ONGC, GAIL, IOCL, and other multinational companies like Schlumberger and RIO TINTO or can join the mother of Geological organization. The Geological Survey of India (GSI) as a cadre one officer. The Researchers can join CSIR institutions like NGRI (Hyderabad), NIO-Goa, WIHG, BSIP, Atomic Mineral Division (AMD).
