ENGLISH@SCHOOL is the outreach programme of the PG Department of English at Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara. It aims at nurturing a feeling of well-being and affinity to the society in which one lives. It also aims at imbibing a commitment towards the progress and advancement of the fellow beings by instilling in them English communicative skills which would later help foster employability skills. It aims at encouraging students of 5th to 8th grade students of GGHS Kodakara to communicate in English. It was a 30 hrs programme spanning over a period of 4 months. Two hours each were engaged in classes 5/6, 7 and 8 every Thursday for 10 days, considering the programmes at the college and at school.

 

The valedictory ceremony was inaugurated on 24th February 2026 at 9.30 am in the Government Girls High School Kodakara premises by Rev Dr. Joji Kallingal, Executive Director Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies after aa English prayer recital by the school choir and the warm welcome accorded by the Headmaster of the school, Sri Thajudeen K K.  Dr. Karuna K, Vice Principal SCAS, Ms Sheena Sarah Winny, HoD PG Department of English, the School coordinator Ms Sheela Krishnan and a senior teacher Ms Krishna Kumari K of the school felicitated during the occasion. They spoke about the importance of learning to communicate in English and appreciated the efforts taken by the student-teachers and the English@School Coordinator in nurturing the ability to speak in English among the school students. The students of class 5 and 6 presented English action songs, while the students of 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th presented the assembly in English showcasing their competency achievement.

The valedictory ceremony was attended by all the students and teachers of the school and 1st yr MA English and the 2nd yr BA English students of the college. Ms Greety George Student Coordinator proposed the vote of thanks. The outreach programme concluded at 10.45 am.
