The Post Graduate Department of Commerce of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara, organized an Extension Activity on Financial Literacy on 25th September 2025. The programme was coordinated by Ms. Jisha Sivadasan (Faculty Coordinator) and Mr. Kashyab Menon (Student Coordinator).
As part of this activity, a group of postgraduate commerce students visited the local residences near Sahrdaya College to create awareness among the public about various investment platforms and financial planning tools. The initiative aimed to extend financial education beyond the classroom and empower the local community with the knowledge needed to make informed financial decisions
During the visit, students interacted with residents and explained the importance of financial literacy, emphasizing how understanding basic financial concepts can lead to better money management, savings, and investment outcomes. They introduced different types of investment avenues such as bank deposits, mutual funds, SIPs, insurance schemes, and government-backed savings plans. The discussions also covered topics like budgeting, risk management, and long-term wealth creation
