The PG Department of Psychology & the PG Department of Commerce, in association with the IQAC, organized a seminar titled “Legal Foundations of Psychological Practice” on 12 November 2025 at Room No. 424, Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies (Autonomous), Kodakara. The session began at 10:01 AM and was designed to provide PG psychology & clinical psychology students with an introduction to the legal & ethical dimensions of professional practice.

The seminar, led by Adv. Geethu Prince, covered the legal and ethical frameworks for psychological practice in India, focusing on the Mental Healthcare Act (2017), client rights, and practitioner responsibilities. The session also addressed legal issues in therapy, assessment, vulnerable groups, and forensic contexts. An interactive Q&A clarified student doubts on the significance of legal literacy for ethical practice. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by P G Arya (II MSc Psychology), acknowledging the resource person, faculty, and organizers for arranging an informative and timely session.
