As part of the Multidisciplinary Course – III: Knowing Kerala Culture, the third semester
undergraduate students (35 in total) from B.Com, B.A., B.Sc., and B.C.A. programs of the
Department of Western and Eastern Languages (Hindi stream) organized an educational visit to
Kerala Kalamandalam on 17th October 2025.
The students were accompanied by Ms. Nisha K and Ms. Anna Jacquiline, Assistant Professors in
the Department of Western and Eastern Languages. The team started their journey from the college at
9:30 a.m. by college bus and reached Kerala Kalamandalam at around 11:45 a.m.
Upon arrival, the students were warmly welcomed and given an opportunity to explore the rich
cultural heritage of Kerala’s classical art forms. They witnessed the traditional training methods of
various performing arts such as Kathakali, Mohiniyattam, Koodiyattam, Chenda, and Maddalam.
The visit provided valuable insights into the preservation and promotion of Kerala’s artistic traditions,
which are deeply rooted in its culture and history.
After the enriching experience at Kerala Kalamandalam, the team departed from the venue at 1:30
p.m. and reached the college safely by 3:30 p.m.
The visit was a wonderful and enlightening experience for all the students. It offered them a unique
opportunity to understand and appreciate the cultural depth and artistic excellence of Kerala. The
exposure also helped them connect classroom learning with real-life cultural expressions, thereby
deepening their appreciation for Kerala’s traditional art and heritage.
