Wednesday, 18th January 24, 2023 Students of Frist year BSc IT and BSc CS along with two faculty members visited Abhaya Bhavan an orphanage in Porathissery, Thrissur. Abhaya Bhavan is a home for physically challenged and paralised persons. 19 students from BSc IT and 36 students from BSc CS accompanied by faculty co-ordinators Ms. Haritha K K and Ms. Deepthy Boban visited the place.
Abhaya Bhavan is shelter home run by Diociean of Irinjalakkuda. At preset around 30 members of different age group are living in Abhaya Bhavan. We started the journey from college at around 9.45am and reached there at 10.30. The children of Abhaya Bhavan were very pleasantly excited to receive the members. The students greeted us with great enthusiasm. They also engaged them with various activities. We also met the caretaker. While interacting with the caretaker, we got to know the history of the orphanage how it was established.
After that student volunteers handed over some financial contribution as a token of love which was collected by the student volunteers from the students and staff of the computer department for this noble cause to the caretaker.
The team spent an about two hours with the inmates of Abhaya Bhavan and returned back at 1.00pm.
