The Department of Social Work organized a one-day seminar on “Introduction to Psychiatric Social Work” on 25th August 2025 at Room No. 432. The resource person was Mr. Mohammed Rafeek T, Former Psychiatric Social Worker, NIMHANS and Government Medical College, Manjeri.The session began with a welcome address by Ms. Nusrath Basheer (MSW III Semester), followed by a felicitation from Ms. Agile, Assistant Professor, Department of Human Excellence. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Aswathy K.Surendran (MSW Batch 2024–26).
Mr. Rafeek provided insights into the evolution, scope, and roles of psychiatric social workers, emphasizing their contribution in multidisciplinary mental health teams. He also shared his professional experiences from NIMHANS and Government Medical College, Manjeri, which greatly enriched the session. The seminar included lectures, discussions, and interactive sessions, enabling MSW students and faculty members to deepen their understanding of psychiatric social work practice. A total of 25 students attended the session.
