On 16th August 2024, Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara,hosted a one-day talk series focused on interpersonal communicative skills under the aegis of the Department of Human Excellence. The event aimed to
enhance the communication abilities of students and faculty, recognizing the critical role effective communication plays in personal and professional success.
The seminar attracted a large audience, reflecting the keen interest in improving these essential skills within the college community. The program commenced at 9:00 AM with a welcome address delivered by Ms.Asha Sudheesh, Head of the Department of Human Excellence. The gathering was further addressed by the Executive Director,Rev Dr Devis Chenginiyadan who highlighted the significance of interpersonal communication in a fast paced world. Principal Dr Joy K.L and Vice Principal Dr Karuna K equally emphasized the importance of effective communication in fostering collaboration and understanding among individuals in diverse environments.
The talk was led by Mr. Arun Jose, a seasoned expert with over 15 years of experience in industry training and interpersonal skills development.

Throughout the day, Mr. Jose delivered an engaging presentation that covered a range of topics, including effective verbal and non-verbal communication, active listening, and conflict resolution techniques. His interactive approach
encouraged participants to practice these skills through role-playing exercises and group discussions, providing a practical framework for applying the concepts in real-world situations. Additionally, Mr. Jose addressed the
importance of cultural sensitivity in communication, equipping attendees withthe tools needed to navigate diverse social contexts effectively.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Ms. Caroline Antony of the HED Department. The successful organization of this talk series not only enhanced the communicative competence of the participants but also fostered a culture of continuous improvement and collaboration within the college community. Overall, the seminar served as a significant step towards equipping students and faculty with the essential skills needed for effective interpersonal
interactions in their academic and professional endeavors.
