Technical Session on Cybersecurity-“Get Lit: Protect Your Data Online”
The Department of Computer Science organized a workshop titled “Get Lit: Protect Your Data Online” on 23rd September 2025 at the Decennial Hall, Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, Kodakara. The resource person for the session was Dr. Amrutha Muralidharan Nair, Associate Professor at Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology, who is specialized in Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, and Cloud Computing. The workshop was conducted from 10:30 AM to 12:45 PM and provided an insightful platform for students to understand the importance of online safety and data protection in the digital era. Dr. Amrutha emphasized the need for safeguarding personal and organizational data against various cyber threats and provided practical strategies for maintaining secure online practices.
The programme commenced with a welcome address delivered by Asst. Prof. Renjith M., Head of the Department of Computer Science, highlighting the importance of IT Clubs in fostering technical skills and industry readiness among students. This was followed by the Presidential Address by Rev. Dr. Devis Chenginiyadan, Executive Director of SCAS, who emphasized the ificance of practical learning alongside academic education.
Dr. Joy K.L., Principal of SCAS, addressed the gathering next, encouraging students to actively participate in club activities and stay updated with emerging technologies. The Inaugural Function was formally performed by Dr. Amrutha Muralidharan Nair, Associate Professor at Adi Shankara Institute of Engineering and Technology, who also delivered the Inaugural Address, motivating students to explore careers in cybersecurity and related fields. Dr. Karuna K., Vice Principal of SCAS, shared her address encouraging students to innovate and develop critical thinking skills.
The formal session concluded with the Vote of Thanks by Adithya Pradeep, 1st-year BCA student and IT Club member, expressing gratitude to all dignitaries, faculty, and students for their participation and support.123 students attended the workshop.
Following the inauguration, Dr. Amrutha Muralidharan Nair conducted a Keynote Address and Technical Session on Cybersecurity. The session provided valuable insights into cybersecurity concepts, current threats, best practices for data protection, and career opportunities in the cybersecurity domain. Students actively engaged in the session, clarifying doubts and discussing
practical scenarios, making it highly interactive and informative.Dr. Amrutha emphasized the need for safeguarding personal and organizational data against various cyber threats and provided practical strategies for maintaining secure online practices
