Date: 19th June 2025

Yoga, an integral part of India’s ancient wisdom, has evolved into a global movement for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. Recognizing its significance, the NSS Unit 291in collaboration with the Indian Knowledge System Centre (IKSC), IQAC, and the Department of Physical Education, organized a Yoga Awareness Campaign as part of the International Yoga Day celebrations.  The programme was inaugurated by Mr. Benny Kollannur, Yoga Team Coach of Calicut University, who emphasized that yoga is not just a practice but a way of life and a science, highlighting its growing relevance in modern times. An inspiring artistic yoga performance by Ms. Hiba Mariyam, an inter-university yoga champion, captivated the audience. Following this, more than 1,000 students participated in a hands-on yoga training session. The session was presided over by Principal Dr. Joy K. L., while Rev. Dr. Devis Chenginiyadan, Executive Director of the college, delivered the Yoga Day message, stressing yoga’s role in managing stress and enhancing physical and mental well-being. Vice Principal Dr. Karuna K. introduced the audience to the Indian Knowledge System, underlining its continued relevance. As part of the campaign and the Knowledge Exchange Programme, NSS volunteers provided yoga training to over 2,500 students across various institutions from June 19 to June 30.
