The Western Eastern Language Department celebrated German Unity Day with a vibrant
morning assembly on 13 October 2025, centred on the theme “German Culture.” The
programme was organized by the second-year German students under the guidance of Mr.
Jose Meekattukulam and was anchored by Ann Margaret (ACCA).
The assembly began with a prayer song by Soyal Soy (BBA), Athulkrishna K M (B.Com
Professional), and Madhav Raj (ACCA). Shawn Chris Davis (B.Sc. CS) presented the Bible
reading and translation. Parthasarathy (B.Sc. IT) shared the Thought for the Day, while
Johann Benjamin (B.Sc. Psychology) presented the Word of the Day. Johann Tom Jojy
(B.Com Professional) shared interesting facts about the Berlin Wall, followed by a short
video presentation explaining its historical significance and the reunification of Germany.
The Executive Director addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of the German
language and its rich cultural heritage. The Principal appreciated the students and organizers
for conducting a meaningful and well-coordinated programme. The assembly concluded with
the Indian National Anthem.
As part of the celebration, several competitions were organized. On 13 October 2025, a
Berlin Wall Shoot-Out football competition was conducted, symbolically representing the fall
of the Berlin Wall and the unity of Germany. Students from different departments
participated enthusiastically, creating a lively and engaging atmosphere.
On 14 October 2025, an Ad-Venture Competition was held where students created
advertisements for popular German products by incorporating elements of Kerala culture.
The event encouraged creativity, intercultural learning, and teamwork.
On 15 October 2025, a Braid Setting Competition (German Style) for female students was
conducted. Participants showcased creative braid designs inspired by German fashion and
global hairstyling trends.
Overall, the German Unity Day celebrations successfully combined cultural awareness,
creativity, and student participation, making the programme both meaningful and memorable.
