Department of social work, in collaboration with Muriyad Panchayat and ARDSI, Thrissur has initiated Alzheimer’s Dementia Screening Preliminary Study in the Muriyad Panchayat as a part of First Semester MSW Fieldwork under the guidance of Mr. Suresh, Social Worker at ARDSI, Kunnamkulam, Thrissur. The presentation of the Report was a significant event that brought together experts, local leaders, and social work trainees to discuss the latest research and findings on Alzheimer’s dementia.
The program began with a Welcome Address by Mani Sanjayan, followed by the Presidential Address by Sri Ku Vijayan. Sri Ku Vijayan emphasized the importance of raising awareness about Alzheimer’s dementia and community involvement. The event also featured Felicitation Speeches by Seveir and Vrinda Kumari, and a presentation by Smithesh, General Manager of ARDSI, on the organization’s research and programs.Suresh Kumar, a social worker at ARDSI, presented the preliminary findings of the study, which aimed to assess the prevalence and early indicators of Alzheimer’s dementia in the local population.
Panel Discussion has been coordinated and facilitated by students of MSW on topics such as awareness of dementia, healthy aging, early detection and treatment, and the importance of daycare centers and caregivers’ training. The event was a success in fostering awareness, promoting community involvement, and inspiring further research and community-based projects.
