The Department of Social Work, Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies (Autonomous), Kodakara, organized a Community Outreach Programme at St. Joseph Mental Health Care Home, Pullazhi, Thrissur, on 20 December 2025. St. Joseph Mental Health Care Home, is a shelter home that provides care and rehabilitation services for persons with mental illness. The primary aim of the programme was to celebrate Christmas with the inmates and to spread joy and warmth during the festive season. The programme commenced with a warm welcome by the Director of St. Joseph Mental Health Care Home, Rev. Fr. Raju Akkara, who appreciated the initiative taken by the students
and faculty of the Department of Social Work. He highlighted the importance of community support and meaningful social interactions in the psychosocial rehabilitation of persons with mental illness.

As part of the celebration, the social work students presented various cultural programmes including group dances and songs. The performances created a lively and cheerful atmosphere, within the institution. The inmates also actively participated by singing songs and dancing along with the students, which fostered mutual interaction, confidence, and a sense of belonging. A special highlight of the programme was the Christmas cake cutting ceremony, symbolizing togetherness and festive spirit. The students also handed over essential food items such as biscuits and rusks to the inmates as a token of love. These items were collected through a student-led collection drive, reflecting the collective effort and social commitment of the student community. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Ms. Nayana, a student of the Department of Social Work, who expressed gratitude to the management of St. Joseph Bhavan, the Director, faculty members, and students for their cooperation and support in making the programme a success
