As a part of the B.Sc. Geology Curriculum, the Department of Geology organized a comprehensive field work programme from 1st February to 7th February 2026 for the I, II, and III B.Sc. Geology students under the guidance of two faculty members. The field visit covered important geological locations in Palakkad district of Kerala, as well as selected regions of Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh, providing students with valuable exposure to the diverse geology of South India. The field sessions provided opportunities to study important structural features such as folds, joints, unconformities and bedding planes. recorded their observations in field notebooks. Overall, the field work successfully strengthened the students’ practical knowledge, improved their observational and analytical abilities, and fostered teamwork, discipline, and professional field ethics essential for budding geologists.
