As part of the MDC Field Visit Programme, the Department of Physics, Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies, organized an educational field visit on 20 February 2026 at 9:00 AM for students of Astronomy and Stargazing, along with Mathematics and Statistics students. The visit aimed to provide experiential learning opportunities beyond the classroom.The first destination was the Sakthan Thampuran Palace, a historic monument showcasing Kerala–Dutch architectural style and the cultural heritage of the region. Students explored various artefacts, historical documents, sculptures, and traditional household items preserved in the museum, which helped them understand the socio-cultural history of Kerala and the importance of preserving heritage sites. The second destination was the Vigyan Sagar Science and Technology Park. Here, students interacted with several scientific models and exhibits related to physics and mathematics. The science park provided hands-on demonstrations of concepts such as mechanics, optics, and electricity. A space tour session was also included, which enhanced students’ knowledge of astronomy and stargazing while strengthening their understanding of theoretical concepts through practical experience.
