Department of Mathematics ,Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies Kodakara inaugurated the Mathematics association NUMERA’24 On 14 November 2024 in AULA MAGNA ,at 1.30 pm .Event began with a prayer, followed by the welcome address by Dr. Sheeba M.B., Dean of Science & Head of the Department of Mathematics. She welcomed everyone and outlined the role of the Mathematics Association in fostering a love for the subject. The report presentation by Ms. Keerthana S.V., the Program Coordinator, highlighted the association’s activities in the past year . The principal’s message was delivered by Dr. K.L. Joy, Principal of SCAS, who spoke about the value of mathematics in students’ academic and career growth.
The official inauguration of NUMERA’24 was conducted by Dr. Lejo J. Manavalan, Assistant Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Little
Flower College, Guruvayoor. He expressed his happiness in being part of the event and encouraged students to pursue mathematics with passion and curiosity.
After the inauguration, felicitation was given by Dr. Karuna K. (Vice Principal, SCAS) who praised the association’s efforts and offered their support. The programme concluded with a vote of thanks by Ms. Aparna K.J.(Third year BSc Mathematics student) Secretary of the Mathematics Association.
Following the formal inauguration, Dr. Lejo J. Manavalan delivered a lecture titled “Infinity: Exploring the Boundless”. The lecture explored the concept of infinity, its mathematical significance, and its philosophical implications.The resource person presented infinity not only as a mathematical concept but also as a topic that stretches the boundaries of human understanding. The lecture was attended by second , third-year BSc Mathematics students and first-year BSc Computer Science students, who were highly engaged in the session.
