On January 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM, the Department of Human Excellence and Wellness Beats Counselling Cell of Sahrdaya College of Advanced Studies conducted a seminar on the theme “The Self in Stress and Coping.” The session was held at the college seminar hall and featured two esteemed speakers: Ms. Afa Abdul Nafi and Ms. Maithreyi A. R. Student Counsellor of the College Ms. Rosalind Manjooran welcomed the gathering and introduced the speakers.

Ms. Nafi is the Chief Psychologist of Afa’s Wellness and Learning Enhancement Centre, Kozhikode, and the Founder and CEO of Psyquesta, an online learning platform for Psychology students. Ms. Maithreyi is a Consultant Psychologist at Afa’s Wellness and an alumnus of the college.
The first session was led by Ms. Afa Abdul Nafi, who delved into the principles of humancentered therapy. She emphasized the importance of self-control and self- awareness, explaining the concepts of the “real self” versus the “ideal self.” Highlighting the pitfalls of striving for an “ideal” life dictated by societal expectations, she encouraged students to.
The second session was conducted by Ms. Maithreyi A. R., who shared her personal journey of overcoming stress. Drawing from her experiences, she provided practical insights and techniques for coping with life’s pressures. The relatable narrative of the speaker resonated deeply with the audience, inspiring them to adopt proactive measures for stress management.
The seminar was well-received, with students actively participating in the interactive segments and posing insightful questions to the speakers. It provided valuable perspectives on navigating stress while fostering self-growth and resilience. The event concluded on a positive note, with Devika P.
