As a part of the Ability Enhancement Course (AEC) under the subject “Working with Older Persons” the Department of Social Work, in collaboration with SWASTH, organized a community outreach programme named ” Spreading Smiles” and an observation visit to De Paul SSSMILE Village, Vettikuzhy Old Age Home on 15th July,2025. A total of 32 students from 1st and 2nd year MSW programs, along with 1 faculty member, participated in the visit.
The students interacted with the elderly residents, listened to their life experiences, and participated in meaningful conversations that high lightened the importance of companionship in the later stages of life. To foster engagement, the students organized and performed cultural programs, including music and dance performances, which brought smiles and joy to the residents. The team distributed essential materials, including soap, towels, toothpaste and other daily-use items, which were collected through a donation drive organized within the college by the students and faculty members.
